Brian Buerkle is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, having received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 1997 and his Master’s Degree in Music Performance at Duqusene University Mary Pappert School of Music in 2003.  His primary teachers have included esteemed trumpeters George Vosburgh, Marie Speziale, Mario Guarneri, Adolph Herseth and Philip Collins.  He is currently 2nd Trumpet with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra in Charleston, WV.  From February 2006 to August 2007, Brian served as the Acting 4th/Utility Trumpet with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and during the 1999 season, he was Second Trumpet with the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra in Toluca, Mexico.  As a freelance trumpeter, Brian has performed and recorded with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Cincinnati Pops, Columbus Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, Colorado Symphony, West Virginia Symphony, Lexington Philharmonic, Queen City Brass and the Burning River Brass.

Aside from his skills as a trumpeter, his published arrangements for brass ensemble and brass quintet have been played and recorded by such groups as the Canadian Brass, Summit Brass, Bay Brass, Washington Symphonic Brass, Belgian Brass, Canterbury Brass, Queen City Brass and the New World Symphony Orchestra.  He has received extensive conducting experience with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra,
Music Academy of the West, CCM Brass Choir, Duquesne Contemporary Ensemble and his own Brian Buerkle Brass Ensemble.  As an entrepreneur, Brian is currently the Owner and President of the Southern Ohio Music Company, a business specializing in the sale and distribution of high quality brass sheet music.

During his free time, Brian can be found doing a number of activities, including playing tennis, racquetball, golf, baseball, billiards and ping-pong.  He is also an avid audiophile and maintains an extensive collection of classical music recordings.
